I couldn’t help but laugh as I was reading From Jason’s recent blog post “Meta’s Toaster Problem,” where, at the start, he asks, “Remember the guy who tried to build a toaster by sourcing all its raw materials?”
Why yes, yes I do remember Thomas Thwaites. I interviewed him for The Nervous Breakdown back in 2012. This was before he lived as (not with, as) a goat. I need to dig up that interview and post it in full on my site now that TNB is officially not on the Internet. RIP TNB. Greatest stomping ground on the web for more than a decade.
There is a short excerpt of my Thwaites interview which you can read on my site. But the link to “read the rest” on TNB won’t take you there. Once I feel comfortable visiting The Wayback Machine again, I’ll update the link. But I’m steering clear of the Internet Archive for a while longer. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, the Verge has you covered.
Anyway, read Jason’s post linked above. Then check out Thomas Thwaites’ book The Toaster Project. Thwaites is an interesting guy. You read that line up there about him living as a goat, right? Again, as. Not with. As. He said nothing of goats during our interview that I recall.
