If I think back to my childhood, I’m not sure a more iconic figure existed, and was beloved by everyone, as Bob Ross.1 The white dude with the fro who painted on PBS. The guy who found a way to incorporate a happy little tree in the corner of his every painting.
I feel like the world needs another Bob Ross. In real life. In our communities. On our TV screens. The Internet. We need more happy little trees being painted in the margins.
Sometimes it feels like everyone is painting rain clouds and dabbing up a brush with red and orange and torching the happy little trees trying to exist with out-of-control wildfires of rage and anger.
So, here’s to happy little trees in life.
This blog is my happy little tree for you.
Paint your happy little tree, every day.
Somewhere.
Real life.
On social media.
The Internet.
At work.
At home.
At youth sporting events.
(I’m sure the kids would appreciate it)
(Refs too)
Find a margin somewhere in your day and paint it.
Fill the entire canvas with a forest of happy little trees if it feels right.
