The city that never sleeps… is sleeping.

Anthony Panza

One of my guilty obsessions is watching point-of-view BMX videos on YouTube. Watching riders explore the streets of the world on their bikes is fascinating to me. About a week ago, I ran across one from Anthony Panza who rides for Cult Crew BMX.

In this video, Anthony Panza explores Manhattan, the most densely populated borough of New York City, at night-time during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will give you perspective on what the largest city in the United States, and the ninth largest city in the world, looks like during COVID-19. The scene is eerily like something from a dystopian novel or film.

P.S. In case you don’t know what Manhattan typically looks like at night, look at the cover photo above.

Eerie indeed. When I visited New York a few years ago I went down these same streets and to say they were packed would be an understatement.
